That's A RapšŸŽ¤

A rapper holding a microphone in front of a UK bus

"How is your rapping?"

That was the question Bauer Media'sĀ Tim HickmanĀ asked me one morning back in July.Ā

It's not something I get asked very often, in fact, I don't think I've ever been asked to rap before. Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity!

The voiceover job was for bus company Konnectbus who wanted a stand-out commercial for their park and ride service. Tim presented them with a brilliant 80s style rap that jokes about car users stuck in traffic. The voiceover had to be youthful, energetic and a little bit tongue and cheek too. The Bauer creative team suggested me for the job, and Tim reached out.

Bauer'sĀ Rick LoynesĀ was directing and producing, and the session that followed was super creative and so much fun!Ā

Tim provided a demo track of his excellent script which gave us a solid starting point, and then thanks to Rick's ideas for voiceover and production plus some improv from me we cooked up a really great radio ad.

There was a lot of freedom for me to experiment and throw in ideas, lots of laughs, and I must have drunk about a litre 1/2 of water by the time we'd finished recording. Being creative is thirsty work! šŸ˜›Ā

I enjoyed it so much that I thought it would be nice to give you a peak at the process on the video below. The whole session was about 40 minutes in total, so this is a highly condensed version, (less than 3 mins). I hope you enjoy it.Ā

Make sure to watch to the very end to hear the finished radio ad. šŸ‘€

Check out more of my voiceover work here, and if you'd like to book me for a project you need a creative voiceover artists for, then please get in touch.
